RICHARD BARONE BREAKS OUT WITH NEW MUSIC VIDEO IN CONJUNCTION WITH HEAVY METAL HORROR FILM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

RICHARD BARONE BREAKS OUT WITH NEW MUSIC VIDEO IN CONJUNCTION WITH HEAVY METAL HORROR FILM

June 24, 2010 (New York, NY) – Legendary rock musician Richard Barone (The Bongos/Author, “Frontman: Surviving the Rock Star Myth”) released his brand-new music video featuring his rendition of “Brick by Brick” recorded for the soundtrack of the forthcoming horror film “MR. BRICKS: A HEAVY METAL MURDER MUSICAL” this week.

Aside from lending his vocals and unique guitar stylings on his Gibson HD.6x-Pro Digital Les Paul to the soundtrack, Barone makes an appearance in the film itself. “Just when I was beginning to think I had done it all, I found myself on the set of 'MR. BRICKS,'” says Barone. “What a pleasure to be a part of this amazing ensemble and truly unique cinema experience...'MR. BRICKS' ROCKS!"

The film introduces remarkable tattooed muscleman Tim Dax, starring as “Mr. Bricks.” Other leading cast members include Scream Queen Nicola Fiore (Game Over, Chuckle's Revenge) and rising star Vito Trigo (Dark Windows). 'MR. BRICKS' also includes additional guest appearances by Lloyd Kaufman (President of Troma Entertainment/Creator of the Toxic Avenger), Shawn “Cool Duder” Phillips and M.J. Kelley (The Don and Murph Show), and Jamie Greco (Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead, So You Think You Can Dance?).

See Richard Barone’s music video for “Brick by Brick" on YouTube.

The concept and soundtrack for 'MR. BRICKS' are the brain child of enterprising young film maker/composer Travis Campbell, who also served as the film's director. Campbell's concept was adapted to the screen by screenwriter Lauren Miller and the film was produced by Justin A. Martell under the newly formed, New York based independent production company, Ship to Shore Media. "MR. BRICKS: A HEAVY METAL MURDER MUSICAL" is the company's first feature film.

Bmovieman.com Covers Mr. Bricks!

Travis Campbell & Nicola Fiore On MR BRICKS:

A HEAVY METAL MURDER MUSICAL

-Interview by Nic Brown-

Musicals. The glamour, the glitz, Gene Kelly dancing energetically across the stage. John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John singing about Summer Loving. Whether it’s SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS or GLEE, some people love musicals and some people hate them. Now writer/director Travis Campbell has taken the plunge and decided to make an indie musical like no other: MR. BRICKS: A HEAVY METAL MURDER MUSICAL. This is a bold step that takes the traditional idea of a musical and turns it on its ear

Travis’s vision has attracted a number of artists to appear in the film, including YouTube sensations Shawn “Cool Duder” Phillips and M.J. Kelley (The Don and Murph Show), Jamie Greco (PDA Massacre, Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead), and Lloyd Kaufman (President of Troma Entertainment and creator of the Toxic Avenger). The film also includes a guest appearance and musical performance by Richard Barone (The Bongos/Author, Frontman: Surviving the Rock Star Myth).

Justin Martell, the founder of Ship to Shore Media, found out about the project while working with Troma Entertainment and decided to throw Ship to Shore's support into the project by becoming a producer for it. Raising money for the film was a challenge according to Martell. "A member of my production company (who shall remain nameless) even had to skype with his shirt off in order to raise money from an older woman who had some to throw around!" Despite these efforts the project still came in with a "micro-budget" of just $3,000. This might not have been enough except for the efforts of everyone involved in the production, especially special effects artist Jessica Jade Jacob who agreed to work for costs on the project and who innovative ideas helped cut costs for the production's effects even more.

She has the face of an angel and the body of a greek goddess theres no wonder why Movie Makers and Directors want to work with her and I even want to work with her and I'm not even a filmaker! Nicola Fiore to me can be summed up in just one glorius word that screams DAMMMMMMMM! She has appeared on a whole list of Radio shows across the nation and has been featured on Movie Posters, and Print work everywhere. Not only is she a great actress but also a stunning model. Nicola has won multipule Awards including best scream queen and this was the interview I was working my azz off to score!

How long have you been filmming movies, what motivated or influenced you to become an actress? How did you get your start making films? How old were you when you made your first feature film, and what was the Title of that film?

I attended film school at my community college and worked as a projectionist when I was 18. That is when I met my friend Chris who had a love of horror and taught me the ropes and showed me my first Fangoria magazine. He wrote a script called "The 12th Victim" where I played Laurie Parks who is indeed the 12th victim. We made another one a few years later called "A Shadow Over Bales Hill" which won 3rd place at the film forum.

How many feature films have you already completed, in what Genres? And what were the Titles? have you had any starring roles in any of the films you have worked on? and whats the titles ?

It is hard to count how many really. Around 20 mostly in the horror genre. I did just complete a musical "Mr Bricks: a Heavy Metal Murder Musical" where I am actually singing which is something I swore I would never do. I play one of the leads named Scarlet. Last year I did "Ms. Cannibal Holocaust" where I play one of the leads who is called "The Woman' . There is also an interactive project I did called "Chuckle's Revenge" where you get to help choose the fate of my character "Kristin" and her friends. "Game Over" was shot in Germany with Timo Rose who is one of my favorite filmmakers. Starring opposite Debbie Rochon and Raine Browne and a solid cast of great German actors was such an amazing experience.

Who has been the most notable person so far to work with?

I am forever grateful for having worked with so many wonderful people. Debbie Rochon was the first person I worked with in the horror world back in 2007 on "For Christ's Sake". She is a very passionate person and artist and has inspired so many people she has worked with. When she said I did a good take, I believed it! And when she encouraged me to give the business a try, I did.

The discussion on "Mr. Bricks" begins at the 17 minute mark...

From Jeff Cornell, Asst. Director and Director of Photography...

Hello all! I’ve recently been fortunate enough to be working as director of photography on a new independent film entitled, “Mr Bricks: A Heavy Metal Murder Musical,” brought to you by Ship to Shore Media. The film is directed by Travis Campbell and produced by my good friend and roommate, Justin Martell. The film is a unique project as there is nothing else like it. It’s a heavy metal musical, c’mon, have you seen anything like it before? The film follows Mr. Bricks and his quest for revenge, love, and what those two things can do to drive someone to their limits to get what they want. Mr. Bricks is played by tattooed king, Tim Dax, who is a face you’ll never forget if you meet him, but is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever come across. (You can see more of him at www.timdax.net!) Attached is the official promo so please watch and make sure to send it to everyone you know! This will definitely turn some heads so please stay updated and find us on Facebook, Mr. Bricks: The Heavy Metal Murder Musical and join the page!

So far, my experience on this has been incredible because I’m surrounded by people who all have the same passion: To make a damn good movie and to make it bad ass. Everyone that’s working on this has the desire, experience, and most importantly the creative drive to do what they love. The people involved in this project have all now become my really close friends and we’ve all developed this “family” sort of relationship, which only adds to the creative chemistry we’re putting on screen. Principal photography is set to start April 9th so keep an ear out for this one folks!

The Shoot

Shootin' the Shit and Getting Support

Last Friday the Mr. Bricks crew gathered to shoot the exciting, insane murderous promo for Mr. Bricks: A Heavy Metal Murder Musical! If you haven't seen it check it out:

The Bricks crew worked really hard and the whole shoot took 4 to 5 hours. The energy behind this movie is incredible. That being said, it is so important as working filmmakers/actors/musicians to have support. Support is the best thing (besides money to shoot the film!) we can have. It takes so much to shoot an independent film and if there is no support, it is nearly impossible. So if you know someone who is working extra hard on a project of passion give them support! Your kind words will go a long way.

Now on to business. The next step for the Bricks crew is another script read through and to finish recording and polishing the songs. Shooting begins in March! Doing a low budget musical is no easy task, but we are up to the challenge. Recording the songs means putting in late nights on top of a day job and then hustling back to that same day job the next morning and doing the whole thing over again. But it is worth it, the music is incredible as well as the actors and the script.

Below is the opening number for the movie called "What is a Victim?" It is a demo version but please take a listen and comment, we would love to hear your feedback. the song was written by Dane Robinson and Travis Campbell.

Until next time,

Brick by Brick He'll Get His Revenge!

In the Beginning...

Welcome to the Mr. Bricks production blog! Mr. Bricks is a heavy-metal-murder-musical-movie (try saying that in one breath) starring the incomparable Tim Dax. If you don't know who Tim Dax is, you can check out his site here.

As Tim's mission statement reads: "I will obey myself and reveal at all times what is in my heart." this blog will obey itself at all times by revealing the true hardships of making an independent film, one such as a heavy-metal-murder-musical-movie.

The landscape for independent cinema has changed over the past decade. Where once fledgling filmmakers could hedge their bets at Sundance with the hope of theatrical distribution, this model is simply not the case anymore. Filmmakers today struggle with the fact their movie might never see the light of day, or the dark walls of an actual theatre. Plus, the economic recession is drying up investing opportunities for small movies and many filmmakers have few options outside of showing their film in their parents' basement or self distribution. Why all this backstory? Why the history lesson?

This is what Mr. Bricks is up against. The Mr. Bricks crew is just a bunch of fledgling filmmakers, musicians and actors with a dream. A dream of making a heavy-metal-murder-musical-movie! We have:

-less then $500
-2 lights
-only 4 weekends to shoot
-A kick ass script
-Kick ass songs recorded at home
-and a lot of grit and determination.

It's important for us to know exactly what kind of movie we are making, what genre it is (revenge/musical) and how we can sell the movie when it's done. Limited time and resources forces us to focus all creative energy onto the project. That being said, Mr. Bricks is a heavy-metal-murder-musical, so below is the first demo track from the film entitled "What is a Victim?" We hope you enjoy! Another entry soon...

Signed,
The Mr. Bricks Crew
